BLOOMINGTON, Ind. – Myles Jackson leaves ’em talking.

This is a good thing when you are a new Hoosier, as Jackson is, when you strive to make a good early impression, as Jackson has, when you push to help return Indiana to its winning football ways, as Jackson does.

“He’s a different cat,” outside linebackers/special teams coach Kasey Teegardin says. “That’s the best way I can explain it. He is different and that’s what this program needed. He is going to make us a better team.”

Cat or not, Jackson arrives after two years at UCLA, but only one in which he was healthy.

Let’s just say Jackson has made a strong impression.

“I’m really excited about Myles, and I know Coach (Tom) Allen is too,” Teegardin says “It is just the element that he brings.”

At UCLA, that element produced seven tackles, one sack, and one fumble recovery over two seasons. Jackson only played in one game in 2020, suffering a season-ending knee injury in the opening game against Colorado.

Much more is expected from him as a Hoosier, and this 6-2, 251-pounder already has delivered.

“With Myles, he has a high attention to detail and a phenomenal rep-based (memory),” Teegardin says. “I tell him something one time and he is so locked in, so focused, and so intense.

“He is such an intense individual and the way he attacks every drill, every meeting. If I pulled his notebook out, his notes are incredible. Pages and pages and pages of notes.

“He is so locked in, and I think he is completely bought in to LEO (Love Each Other) and what our program stands for. He is a perfect fit for us in that sense.”
