Colts sign S Armani Watts: 3 things to know

The Indianapolis Colts finally added some depth to the safety room by signing former Kansas City Chiefs safety Armani Watts to a one-year deal on Tuesday.

Given that Khari Willis is the only healthy player currently making up the safety room, this was the type of move that was needed. Adding depth to the safety room was a massive need after the first few weeks of free agency.

Here are three things to know about the Colts’ new safety:

Former 4th-round pick

Watts entered the league as a fourth-round pick with the Kansas City Chiefs during the 2018 NFL draft. He spent four years starting at Texas A&M and earned All-SEC honors during his final collegiate season.

Watts, 26, was the No. 124 overall pick and was selected with the pick the Chiefs gained in the trade that involved cornerback Marcus Peters.
