Chiefs had interest in Calais Campbell prior to his return to Ravens

The Kansas City Chiefs were interested in kicking the tires on a veteran pass-rusher before he returned to his old team.

Calais Campbell is back with the Baltimore Ravens on a two-year deal. According to NFL reporter Josina Anderson, the Chiefs, Indianapolis Colts and Cleveland Browns were among the teams who were interested in signing Campbell. The Ravens, however, were the team that showed the most urgency in getting a deal done.

It’s no surprise that the Chiefs had an interest in Campbell. Yes, the team has a huge need to get better along the defensive line, but they also hired defensive line coach Joe Cullen this offseason. Cullen coached Campbell as the defensive line coach with the Ravens in 2020.
