Who rises, falls in latest 3-round projections?

The 2022 NFL draft kicks off in just two weeks, and there’s still no clear-cut consensus on how things will shake out at the top.

There’s still plenty of discussion about who will be the No. 1 pick, and while the top overall prospects expected to come off the board in the top 10 have inspired some widespread agreement, the order in which those names will be called is still anybody’s guess.

As this year’s three-day event approaches, here’s an updated look at how the first three rounds could shake out (including compensatory picks), with plenty of prospects moving in opposite directions on the board:

1. Jacksonville Jaguars | Georgia EDGE Travon Walker

This pick appears to be gaining some steam, and while it might be surprising to see a player with so little production go No. 1 overall, Walker’s combination of size, athleticism and versatility should make him a much more productive pro. He’s worthy of consideration for this year’s top spot.

2. Detroit Lions | Michigan EDGE Aidan Hutchinson

The Lions are coming away with an impact edge defender here, regardless of who goes No. 1 overall. In this scenario, they land an in-state prospect in Hutchinson, who took a massive leap in his senior season. He’s a complete player who proved last year that he can take over games all on his own.

3. Houston Texans | Oregon EDGE Kayvon Thibodeaux

While “Sauce” Gardner is worthy of consideration here, Lovie Smith’s defense is predicated on getting consistent pressure with the front four, and that means the Texans have to add some firepower off the edge. Thibodeaux has limitless potential, and would give Houston exactly what they need at a premium position.

4. New York Jets | Cincinnati CB Ahmad “Sauce” Gardner
