Going into the 2022 college football season, Tar Heels Wire will be looking at each scholarship player listed on the North Carolina roster.
Over the preseason, each profile will cover where the player is from, how recruiting websites rated them coming out of high school, and what role they will play for Mack Brown this season.
Storm Duck comes into the 2022 season the same way he went into 2021: with a bunch of potential. Duck, who missed most of his sophomore season due to injury, once again missed much of his junior season, appearing in just five games while dealing with a lower-body injury.
In those five games, Duck had 16 tackles and one pass deflection. Duck’s best game of the season came against Wake Forest, where he played his highest snap count (78) and had five tackles in the 58-55 nail-biting win.
Looking ahead, Duck hasn’t yet been able to display why fans were so excited to see him in Carolina blue. This upcoming season could finally give Duck the ability to showcase his talent, if healthy, so UNC fans can finally see the storm that has been brewing.
Let’s look at our profile for Storm Duck.

Depth Chart Overview
Duck, pending a healthy season, is expected to be the main corner, showing the most potential out of all the defensive backs. He will lineup opposite of Tony Grimes, giving UNC a good 1-2 duo out there on the edge as well as some veteran leadership.
Duck’s speed and overall experience should see his cleats laced up in front of the opposing best receiver. If he can bounce back and have a strong season, UNC’s secondary should be in good shape.
