USC needs offensive linemen; it might have the perfect candidate

USC offensive line coach Josh Henson came to the Trojans from Texas A&M. In College Station, under the watchful eye of head coach Jimbo Fisher, Henson coached Derick Hunter, who came to AggieLand as a four-star pass rusher but was converted to the offensive line to meet an area of need.

USC needs offensive linemen, so the Trojans and Henson surely noticed earlier this week that Hunter entered the transfer portal. Henson is in position to make a run at Hunter and bring him to Los Angeles. This is exactly what USC needs, especially in light of Josh Conerly’s decision to go to Oregon.

Henson was hired by Lincoln Riley because of his ability to recruit in the state of Texas, especially along the offensive line. Hunter would give Henson and USC the chance to notch a victory in the transfer portal and carry along the process of stocking the roster, which is noticeably thin right now.

USC has just 13 scholarship offensive linemen. It grabbed just one offensive lineman — Virginia’s Bobby Haskins — in the portal. Hunter could be just the thing to boost USC at a position of acute need.
