Medically retired TE Nick Storz back on roster

LSU got a bit of a suprise this spring as the tight end room got some added depth. Graduate student Nick Storz, who was thought to be medically retired, was listed on the spring roster and seems to be back participating with the team.

A former top pitching recruit coming out of high school, Storz signed with the Tigers in 2017 after being taken by the Detroit Tigers in the 31st round of the MLB draft that same year. He spent three years with the team, but his career ultimately stagnated due to injuries.

He moved to football, where he appeared in 10 games during the 2020 season without recording a stat. He hoped for a bigger role the following year, but he wasn’t cleared to play in 2021 with injuries that were deemed “career-threatening.”

With his being listed on the roster, it seems safe to assume he has finally received that medical clearance. In what will likely be his final season with the program, Storz will look to make an impact coming off the bench, though he will likely see limited action with several players sitting above him on the depth chart.
