One of the more highly anticipated players to watch in 2022 is sophomore Ethan Downs. With the change in defensive philosophy and the departure of entrenched starters to the NFL, many are expecting a breakout season for the second-year edge rusher in Brent Venables and Ted Roof’s defense.
Downs was fourth among edge players in defensive snaps in 2021 behind Nik Bonitto, Isaiah Thomas, and Reggie Grimes. Ethan Downs played in all 13 games as a freshman and recorded 14 total tackles, three tackles for loss, a half a sack, and a forced fumble. He was the only player to play in all 13 games in 2021.
