Are the Tigers better without Bo Nix at quarterback?

Are the Auburn Tigers better off with or without Bo Nix? Did his poor play at the time fall on him or does the staff hold some blame? Perhaps it doesn’t matter anymore.

Many fans and people within the program questioned whether it was Nix or the fact that the coaching staff failed to set him up for the best success. Over the years, Auburn has seen its share of offensive coordinators.

Kenny Dillingham (2019), Chad Morris (2020), and Mike Bobo (2021) all coached Nix during his three seasons on the Plains. It is difficult to have any consistency when the only consistent part of your football program is change.

Sometimes it can be hard to deal with coaching changes like that. It changes the outlook that players have on the program and certainly affects their development. It could be an argument that Nix’s ability to improve was lessened by all of these coaching changes.

On the opposite end of the argument, some may conclude that Nix was the reason that the offensive coordinators looked the way that they did.

Regardless of what one may think, Nix also had his shares of ups and downs within the program. It just seemed like the son of former Auburn quarterback Patrick Nix just couldn’t find himself at Auburn.

He had some flashes of hope like when he led the Tigers past Alabama in 2019 or even when he shined in his debut against his current team the Oregon Ducks. With all of the ups, it just seemed like there were just as many downs.

Over the years, it just seemed like the coaching staff gave Nix less freedom to do what he desired. In 2021, it was a huge learning curve for the signalcaller. He struggled to find consistency.

Prior to his injury against Mississippi State, he had only thrown for over 300 yards in one game which was actually against the Bulldogs. Perhaps, it was in his best interest to play elsewhere.
