Leonard Williams praises Korey Foreman after USC spring game

Leonard Williams, a star defensive lineman in the NFL, was obviously looking at other defensive linemen at USC’s spring game on Saturday. Williams was inside the Los Angeles Coliseum for this anticipated event. He, like many other former USC players, was excited to see this significant moment in the early stages of the Lincoln Riley era, which carries such hope and promise for USC fans and alumni.

When the spring game was over, Williams was asked for his thoughts on the day’s proceedings. He pointed to a USC player who impressed him, but he didn’t identify the player by name:

No, an NFL player should not have to name the players on his college team’s current roster, but it did stand out that Williams didn’t know the name Korey Foreman.

This isn’t a criticism of Williams, either.

It’s a criticism of Clay Helton and Todd Orlando, who failed to make Foreman a breakout player last year. That’s why Foreman’s name remained obscure — to USC NFL alumni and other college football watchers around the country.

Now, under Lincoln Riley and defensive coordinator Alex Grinch, Foreman is becoming less obscure and more equipped to play at a high level. He isn’t even close to reaching the summit of his development, but he played well enough to impress an NFL star.

It’s a lot better than where Foreman was at the end of 2021, that’s for sure.
