Frost’s seat hot heading into 2022

Nebraska Cornhuskers football head coach salaries since 2012

When it comes to the 2022 college football season, Nebraska head coach Scott Frost is aware of one consistent talking point surrounding his team, his job status. We’ve talked before about Frost being one of the power five coaches in college football on the hot seat and another list, this time from our friend Patrick Conn at Auburn Wire listed Frost as one of the ten coaches his list.

I feel like a broken record saying this, but Patrick’s assessments are 100 percent right. Frost hasn’t had a winning season since getting to Lincoln, and the program has undergone numerous changes as a result. But, of course, the most significant change for the Huskers this season was hiring a new offensive coaching staff. A new offensive coordinator, running backs coach, offensive line coach, and wide receivers coach completely overhauled the offense for the Cornhuskers. Scott Frost even relinquished play-calling duties and will take on more of a CEO role in the upcoming season. This was a significant development. It will be the first time he hasn’t called plays since he was a wide receivers coach at Oregon in 2012. From 2013 to last season, he had called plays every year either as a coordinator or head coach. How he will adjust to being hands-off when it comes to individual playcalling is one of the more intriguing questions surrounding this football team.

Frost is aware of the task ahead of him in 2022, and in response, he made the changes necessary to the coaching staff. You take the new energy on offense, the new attitude with special teams, and the defense that has shown itself to be reliable and put all of it together. You have an intriguing team heading into the season opener in Dublin.
