With the trade of Amari Cooper, it is not out of the realm of possibilities to see the Dallas Cowboys select a wide receiver in the upcoming NFL Draft. One potential high ceiling player, whose career is clouded with medical concerns is Clemson’s Justyn Ross. Ross was very highly regarded coming out of high school. He was Rivals’ No. 15 ranked player and a top-50 prospect for 247Sports. ESPN had him in their top 75.
Ross’ career at Clemson got off to a good start. In 2018, Clemson’s national championship season, he brought in 46 catches for 1,000 yards and nine touchdowns. Starting in 2020 is when the medical issues started popping up. He missed the 2020 season due to a congenital fusion condition of his neck and spine that required surgery. The injury was career threatening, but he made is way back for the 2021 season before foot surgery sidelined him for the final three games of the season. Does his film mitigate the medical risks?
