CU Buffs walk-on WR Jack Hestera fitting in nicely

The Colorado Buffaloes football team is rolling out a new, revamped wide receiver corps after a number of departures in the offseason.

One of the new faces in Boulder is Jack Hestera.

Hestera is a walk-on freshman wide receiver eager to finally sport the Buffs uniform. After all, it makes it even more interesting that Hestera has some family ties to the Colorado program.

His father, Dan, was on the roster when the Buffs won the national title back in 1990. So, Jack Hestera getting to play for Colorado means even more than it does for just about everyone else.

After the Spring Showcase, Hestera opened up on playing in Boulder (h/t Pat Rooney of BuffZone).

“I’ve been a Buff since I was a little kid. It’s nothing new in the family.”

It is an honor for Hestera to be on the Buffs roster, and Karl Dorrell and the coaching staff sure are hoping Hestera can carve out a consistent role on the offense.

Hestera was terrific at Cedar Park High School in Texas, catching 53 passes for 1,061 yards and 16 touchdowns. So, the talent is there, and now the opportunity to play for Colorado has become a reality.

The story writes itself, and it sure seems like Hestera has destiny on his side.
