On Thursday afternoon, Oregon Ducks superstar defensive end Kayvon Thibodeaux will know which team’s jersey he will be wearing to begin his NFL career.
While most believe his chances of going No. 1 overall have faded, he is going to be among the first players taken during Thursday’s event, and could easily find himself within the top five.
Thibodeaux’s pass rushing skills would fit on any NFL defensive front, that’s how much pure talent he has, but there are only a handful of teams that will get a realistic shot to add him into the mix – unless of course someone is willing to trade up and snag him.
Here is a look at three teams, all picking in the top-5, who could end up with Thibodeaux. We look at what his role might look like with these squads, how deep they are up front, and any other relevant details as the draft draws near:
2nd Overall – Detroit Lions

It looks like the Jaguars are going in another direction, but Thibodeaux could easily still be the second player picked on Thursday – by the Detroit Lions.
Detroit has a lot, a lot, of holes to fill on their roster, and EDGE is quite clearly among them. Thibodeaux would be relied upon heavily in their 4-2-5 defensive package to help generate pressure up front.
While the Lions aren’t known as a powerhouse, Thibodeaux could help jumpstart a rise in the Motor City.
3rd Overall – Houston Texans

Thibodeaux already made it clear he loves Lovie Smith and his defensive scheme, which had a lot of Texans fans drooling at the thought of Oregon’s star defensive end ending up in Houston.
Indeed Thibodeaux’s specific skill-set is well suited for Smith’s defense, and if Kayvon doesn’t head to Detroit, a trip down to Houston could be in the cards.
4th Overall – New York Jets
