The Baltimore Ravens had one of the more eventful nights during the first round of the 2022 NFL draft. They ended up with multiple first round picks that they used on quality players, while also trading away one of their accomplished young players in the process.
There were plenty of directions that the first round could have gone for Baltimore, but many agree that they came out of it better than when they went into it. While they did create another need for themselves, they took best players available that will be able to slot in on the defensive and offensive sides of the ball, respectively.
Below we grade each of the moves that the Ravens made during the first round of the 2022 NFL draft
Ravens select S Kyle Hamilton at No. 14 overall

By the time that Baltimore got on the clock at pick No. 14, there was a clear best player available. That was Hamilton, who offers tremendous size and versatility at the safety position, being able to play at multiple spots on a defense.
There was the expectation that Hamilton could go within the top-five picks, so to get him at No. 14 will be considered one of the steals of the draft for a long time. Safety isn’t a need for the Ravens, but they made the right decision by taking the former Notre Dame star

Ravens trade WR Marquise Brown, pick No. 100 to Cardinals for No. 23

The trade of Brown came as a shock to many at first, but as details started to emerge, the move made sense. He requested a trade out of Baltimore, and general manager Eric DeCosta worked with what he could to get him to a situation that he wanted to be in while also netting the team a solid haul.
