Erik Krommenhoek finds his NFL landing spot with the Chargers

The USC Trojans had just a few players get selected in the 2022 NFL draft. However, they had a flurry of players get undrafted free agent deals following the conclusion of the draft.

According to Aaron Wilson of Pro Football Network, tight end Erik Krommenhoek signed a deal with the Los Angeles Chargers and won’t have to travel very far at all.

The Trojans’ tight end was used more as a blocker and is an interesting addition for the Chargers, especially since they have Gerald Everett and Donald Parham Jr.

Krommenhoek caught 15 passes for 137 yards and a touchdown in his final year in L.A.

As always with undrafted free agents, they will have to fight for a roster spot. The Chargers lost Stephen Anderson and are still seeing how 2021 draft pick Tre McKitty pans out.

So who knows, maybe Krommenhoek earns a spot on the 53-man roster after all, although a practice squad slot is a much more realistic path for the USC product.

An interesting nugget is that Krommenhoek caught passes from Sam Darnold back in 2017 and now will catch balls from superstar youngster Justin Herbert if he makes the roster for the Chargers.

The Trojans are hoping for another successful undrafted free agent signing.
