Experts dole out grades for New York Giants

The 2022 NFL draft reached its end on Saturday evening and for the New York Giants, they came away with an impressive 11-pick haul after a little wheeling and dealing.

General manager Joe Schoen seemed to hit a home run on Day 1, but received far more negative reviews on Day 2. The team seemed to reach on all three of their picks — which became immediately blasphemous to recognize.

But the Giants and Schoen rebounded on Day 3 with several key picks and developmental additions.

Here’s how NFL experts and analysts graded Big Blue’s full draft haul and multiple trades.

Draft Wire: B+

Draft Wire was so impressed with the Giants’ first-round haul that it overshadowed some of their reaches on Day 2.

When you do what the Giants did with their two top-10 picks, the rest is just gravy. Landing EDGE Kayvon Thibodeax and OT Evan Neal at No. 5 and No. 7 respectively was a huge coup for first-time GM Joe Schoen. WR Wan’Dale Robinson is an intriguing fit, considering his similarities to Kadarius Toney. Flott and OL Joshua Ezeudu both felt like they went a couple of rounds too early.

On Day 3, got some solid value picks on both sides of the ball, highlighted by the thievery of Beavers in the sixth round, who was a top-100 prospect in this class. He should start right away for a defense that desperately needs what he brings to the second level. There are some question marks here, but the top picks carry the day.

Touchdown Wire was equally impressed with the Giants’ haul — especially in Round 1. And they didn’t feel like the reaches were that bad.
