Way too early 2023 mock draft

Now that the 2022 NFL Draft is in the books, it’s time to start looking forward to 2023.

The Minnesota Vikings made fixing the defense the entire priority this offseason. How much those pieces will help the issue is another thing entirely.

For this exercise, we will be moving forward like those top pieces filled their requisite holes.

Based on early projections, the class is flush with quarterbacks, wide receivers and pass rushers. Unfortunately, the Vikings are without fourth and seventh-round picks due to trades. Early on, they take full advantage of those positions in this way too early mock draft.

Round 1, No. 19: Jordan Addison, WR, Pittsburgh

Addison is coming off of a sophomore season in which he won the Biletnikoff award. He is currently in the transfer portal with a big-money NIL deal waiting for him at USC. Dynamite with the ball in his hands, Addison is an excellent receiver that would pair brilliantly with Justin Jefferson.

Round 2, No. 51: Cameron Ward, QB, Washington State

Coming out of a small high school in Texas, Ward didn’t have any major offers due to his high school running the winged-T. He ended up going to Incarnate Word, where he immediately showed off his great tools leading them to a playoff berth. He followed his head coach Eric Morris to Washington State when Morris took the Cougars offensive coordinator position.

Ward possesses all the tools you want in a modern-day quarterback: strong arm, mobile and the want to push the ball down the field. When the 2023 draft comes around, don’t be surprised if he is discussed with the likes of Bryce Young and CJ Stroud for being the best in the class.

Round 3, No. 83: Isaiah Foskey, EDGE, Notre Dame
