Big Ten football recruiting rankings after spring football practices

Spring football is generally a good time to make some pushes on the recruiting trail. Bringing in recruits to give them an up-close look at how the program is run in the offseason can be a valuable asset. And this past spring football season saw a few Big Ten teams capitalize on those opportunities. But how did that impact the overall recruiting rankings for the Class of 2023?

It turns out there was some movement within the way the Big Ten recruiting rankings shake out at the end of the spring football season. Penn State managing to flip one commitment from Michigan may have been the biggest recruiting story of the past month, and it certainly helped Penn State maintain its top spot in the big Ten Class of 2023 rankings, for now. Ohio State remains a firm No. 2 with every opportunity to push ahead of Penn State as the recruiting calendar continues to unfold. But the flip from Michigan opened the door for not one, but two Big Ten programs to maneuver just ahead of the Wolverines as the month of May begins.

For the purposes of this list, all recruiting ranking information is based on the updated composite rankings provided by 247Sports. The number of five-star and four-star commits is also highlighted for each school, where available.

Each team’s national recruiting ranking is noted, as well as any movement in the national and Big Ten rankings compared to our last monthly update on the class rankings.
