USC lands new commit for 2023 class, enhancing the defensive backfield

USC, Lincoln Riley seek elite speed, pursue 5-star edge rusher

The USC Trojans are ready to make noise in 2022 in Lincoln Riley’s first year as head coach. However, the Trojans are also adding pieces to the 2023 class.

According to Chris Trevino of 247Sports, the Trojans brought in a three-star defensive back from Rancho Cucamonga, Christian Pierce, on a commitment.

The addition of Pierce is massive in many ways. Most notably, this move brings the Trojans’ 2023 class to No. 10 in the nation, a far cry from previous recruiting classes at USC. This has everything to do with the decision to poach Riley away from Oklahoma and begin a new era at Heritage Hall.

The three-star safety won’t have a very long drive to USC next season. He is making the Trojans’ new defensive staff, including new defensive coordinator Alex Grinch, very happy.

Pierce’s announcement on Twitter was very exciting for fans; it featured the famous two-finger USC sign.

The Trojans’ 2023 roster is loaded from top to bottom and has five-star QB Malachi Nelson as the biggest get of all.

Pierce had brought his list of schools down to Washington, UCLA, and USC, so the Trojans not only brought him on but beat out a pair of Pac-12 rivals in the process.

The hiring of Riley just keeps providing benefits, and the Trojans haven’t even played one game yet.
