Penn State is coming off a solid showing in the 2022 NFL draft by having a Big Ten-leading eight players selected by NFL teams. Naturally, those draft picks leave behind some big shoes to fill for the 2022 Nittany Lions, and figuring out who will take over those key roles is a big task for head coach James Franklin and his staff heading into an important year for the program.
Coming off a second straight mediocre season and going .500 over the past two seasons has Penn State embracing an opportunity to redeem themselves in the fall, and the schedule gives them plenty of opportunities to do so right out of the gate. The recent spring football practices may have helped figure a few things out about who replaces NFL draft picks in the fall, but the summer will continue on with a few positions still to be ironed out.
Here is a look at some of the players that should be expected to help fill the void from NFL draft picks on Penn State’s roster in 2022.
Jahan Dotson, WR – Mitchell Tinsley

Why not start off this list with the most obvious replacement option. While replacing a first-round wide receiver isn’t the easiest task in the world to pull off, Western Kentucky transfer Mitchell Tinsley is the guy who will be stepping into a big role with the Penn State offense. And he’ll even be wearing Dotson’s old No. 5.
Parker Washington is the receiver that may be expected to be Penn State’s leading receiver, but Tinsley will help fill the void with his own skill and hands.

Penn State will have a few options to work with at the defensive end position this year, including the most recent addition of Maryland transfer Demeioun Robinson. But Adisa Isaac returning for 2022 after being sidelined with an injury in 2021 is the player to watch closely here.
