CB Jarrick Bernard-Converse’s 2022 player profile

Going into the 2022 football season, LSU Wire will be looking at each scholarship player listed on the Tigers roster.

Over the preseason, each profile will cover where the player is from, how recruiting websites rated them coming out of high school, and what role they will play for Brian Kelly this season.

We’ve already broken down some of LSU’s top transfer portal additions in the secondary, but we perhaps get to the gem of that group in Jarrick Bernard-Converse, a four-year starter at Oklahoma State and Shreveport native who’s using his bonus year of eligibility to take over Derek Stingley Jr.’s spot as the Tigers’ top outside corner.

Depth Chart Overview

With both of last year’s starting outside corners departing in Stingley and Cordale Flott, fixing the secondary was a top priority for Kelly in his first offseason. He did just that by adding Louisiana transfer Mekhi Garner and Bernard-Converse, an Oklahoma State transfer.

Bernard-Converse arrived as a relatively unregarded player seeing as he sat outside the top 1,000 in his recruiting class. However, he quickly made an impact and started the final nine games of his true freshman campaign in 2018. He would go on to start 47 consecutive games over four years tying for the third-most in program history. He moved from safety to corner as a junior.
