New York Giants general manager Joe Schoen conducted his first-ever draft last week and came away with an 11-player class. Most picks were considered solid, especially in Round 1.
While not many thought the Giants won the draft overall, Big Blue did add more estimated value than any other team. Not only that, but the Giants’ draft class also brought with them impressive RAS scores.
Former Super Bowl champion Shaun O’Hara is a big fan of the overall haul. The retired Giants offensive lineman is a frequent fill-in on NFL network’s Good Morning Football and praised Schoen (and his picks) this week.

“Kayvon Thibodeaux, his unbelievable ability at the snap, his get-off, it reminds me of Osi Umenyiora,” O’Hara said. “Just really great long arms, uses his hands really well. The Giants haven’t drafted an edge rusher in the first round since JPP back in 2010. That’s 12 years. This guy is phenomenal. No doubt about it, him opposite Azeez Ojulari is going to be a great matchup, a great duo.”

“Let’s talk about Evan Neal,” O’Hara said. “I thought he was the best tackle in the draft. The best thing is, he played right tackle his junior year in college two years ago. The Giants are going to move him to right tackle. Run-blocking, this guy is a road grader. Most teams run the football mostly to the right, so this is a great fit for him. I think obviously the Giants certainly needed a tackle, they needed some help up front.”
