Over the last two decades, the SEC has dominated the national championship scene. Since the arrival of Nick Saban to Tuscaloosa, the conference has accounted for 11 of the 15 national championships.
As should be expected, when you have championship teams you have players on top of their game. More often than not, the best player on those teams will walk away with the Heisman Memorial Trophy.
The conference has accounted for eight Heisman winners since 2000. Four of them won it while playing for Alabama. The Auburn Tigers, Florida Gators, LSU Tigers, and Texas A&M Aggies each added one of their own. All were quarterbacks during that stretch.
