USC could gain defensive reinforcements in the transfer portal. The Trojans can use all the help — and bodies — they can get. A bonus would be found in the ability to land a transfer from USC’s foremost Pac-12 competitor.
Most analysts would tell you that Utah and USC are the two best teams in the Pac-12 right now. Oregon is legitimately in the mix, but if you were to ask a USC fan about the bigger challenge, Utah gets the nod over the Ducks. This isn’t just because Utah is in the same division, though that is a factor; Utah is the defending Pac-12 champion, and it thrashed Oregon twice last season.
If USC can get a player from Utah in the transfer portal, that would be a double-value proposition for the Trojans.
Antonio Morales of The Athletic noted that former Utah linebacker Carson Tabaracci, who visited USC in his initial recruitment, is a transfer portal player to watch for the Trojans.
The rest of the (linebacker) group carries a lot of question marks. Can Davis take more positive steps forward? What’s Simon’s outlook? Can Thompson provide anything to this group after transitioning from safety?
It’s also worth keeping an eye on Utah transfer Carson Tabaracci, who visited USC this past weekend.
Stay tuned.
