College tight ends can be difference makers but they are few and far between, Theo Johnson is a difference-maker in every sense of the word. His athletic ability paired with a frame that gives him an advantage over every defender is something that has Penn State clamoring for more from him this upcoming season.
Penn State’s offense doesn’t include peppering tight ends with a ton of targets normally but we saw what they could do with Pat Freiermuth. With it now being his second year being the starter we should see a big-time jump from the man hailing from Windsor, Ontario.
Tight ends can be a quarterback’s best friend as well so keep that in mind as the season progresses. If we get to see some of the younger faces on the quarterback depth chart look for him to see a bigger role, and get to know him before we see him take off this 2022 campaign.

It is established at this point that Theo Johnson is the leader in the clubhouse amongst the tight ends. He is a rare blend of size, speed, and overall athletic ability and because of that he is going to be a big key to the success the Nittany Lions see on offense.
The John Mackey Award is given to college football’s best tight end each year during award season. The watchlist they do in the preseason has yet to be released but don’t be surprised to see his name on that list when the season roles around. Enjoy Theo Johnson this year though, he is a fun watch and his leadership…
