Cards Wire evaluates Keaontay Ingram

Keaontay Ingram to Cardinals in Round 6 of 2022 NFL draft

Keaontay Ingram decided to leave USC early and head for the 2022 NFL draft, and that appears to be the right decision.

Ingram was selected by the Arizona Cardinals in the sixth round of the 2022 NFL draft and should immediately compete for a role, especially after Chase Edmonds left the desert and signed with the Miami Dolphins.

Jess Root of CardsWire wrote on the decision to roll with Ingram. While Root had other running backs in mind, the selection of Ingram appears to be a good one if he ends up as advertised:

He has size to pair with James Conner and can move well. He can catch the ball as well. He was a top recruit coming out of high school and ended up behind one of the best running backs in the country at Texas. He was productive at USC.

Ingram is a perfect back to pair with James Conner, who was terrific last season after going unsigned in free agency for quite some time. While Ingram didn’t quite live up to expectations after transferring from Texas, he is still a quality running back and could very well be a steal in the sixth round.
