Tigers in top 6 for DT Hunter Osborne

Tigers offer 2023 ATH Jacobe Johnson

Since arriving at LSU, it’s been clear that coach Brian Kelly is not afraid to go after players right under the nose of their in-state powers.

The latest such example is Hunter Osborne, a four-star defensive tackle from Hewitt-Trussville (Trussville, Alabama). Osborne is certainly being recruited hard by Alabama and Auburn, but LSU seems to have also made an impression on the 6-foot-3, 250-pound prospect in the 2023 recruiting class.

On Friday, Osborne announced via his Twitter account that he has narrowed his list of schools down to six, and the Tigers made the cut alongside the Tigers, Crimson Tide, Texas, Tennessee and Clemson. He currently has no timetable for a decision.

Osborne is a four-star recruit and the No. 128 overall prospect in the 2023 class according to the 247Sports Composite. According to his scouting report from Cooper Petagna, he has the athleticism to play on the edge but his skill set is more in line with that of a three-technique. If he can add a bit of weight, he will likely see most of his action inside at the college level.

Landing Osborne would be a huge win for Kelly, especially considering it would come over Nick Saban and ‘Bama, among several others.
