Kevin Sheehan requested Chris Cooley work out another film evaluation on two Washington 2022 draft picks, Brian Robinson Jr and Cole Turner.
Cooley appeared on Sheehan’s podcast Friday with his film evaluations. For the sake of space, Commanders Wire will provide you with the Robinson review today and the Turner review tomorrow.
“One thing I thought right away, while watching him run, he is a strong runner. I think he has some good lateral cuts. I think he has decent feet at the line of scrimmage.”
They don’t have a lot of stretch zone in Washington. He can be versatile in terms of schemes. He could mix in counters, traps. I think he has enough burst to run away from some people. So I like that a lot about him. To me, he is a pretty consistent one-speed guy.”
“If he gets through the line of scrimmage he can get you six, seven, eight or ten. He is a very consistent runner. I do think he has the ability to run through tackles. He is very capable of running through arm tackles a lot of the time.”
I think he is an ok pass protector; something that is incredibly important in the NFL. He’s got a little bit of a drop your shoulder sometimes, but I like his size in that fashion. He is able to really fill against a blocking linebacker or help against a defensive lineman and do a pretty good job.”
“He definitely runs high. He is a downhill high runner. You don’t see him at the first or second contact lowering his center of gravity. I don’t know if he is a guy that is going to get past the safety. He doesn’t have a lot in his arsenal in moves and spins. He does have a good jump-cut at the line of scrimmage. He does have a good body turn, to turn away from contact into the second level.”
But I don’t see him as a guy that is going to have a ton — 15 or so carries. I don’t necessarily see him as a 3-down back. I don’t know how versatile he is as a route runner out of the backfield. I don’t know what they will ask him to do in that…
