Former Washington cornerback DeAngelo Hall spent almost 10 seasons of his 14-year NFL career with the team formerly known as the Redskins. Before being drafted by the Atlanta Falcons in the first round of the 2004 NFL draft, Hall played collegiately at Virginia Tech.
The native Virginian grew up a fan of Washington, so playing for his “home” team for most of his career ensures Hall will remain a fan for life.
Hall, who spent the past two seasons on Washington’s radio broadcast team, recently stepped aside from that gig.
To say Hall remains a fan of the Washington Commanders is an understatement. On Wednesday’s edition of “BMitch & Finlay” on 106.7 The Fan in Washington, D.C., Hall texted host Brian Mitchell shortly after free-agent cornerback James Bradberry signed with the Eagles.
Hall wasn’t happy and called in on the show.
“It’s going to change the landscape of the division,” Hall said. “It’s not simply the James Bradberry move. It’s in whole the approach this offseason. It’s going and getting a guy like Jordan Davis; it’s understanding that Nakobe Dean is a baller no matter where he is in the draft and bringing him on your football team. It’s so many of those little things, Haason Reddick, the pass-rusher from Carolina; it’s a lot of those moves collectively. A.J. Brown has you saying ‘wow.’”
Hall said the Eagles will be challenging to beat as they are “loading up.” He explained, “And it’s frustrating as a fan when you see your team not loading up.”
Washington has been quiet in free agency this offseason, with reports the team was focused on keeping its own players, such as star wide receiver Terry McLaurin.
While that is a smart approach, the Commanders have done very little outside of trading for quarterback Carson Wentz. Yes, Wentz is an upgrade at quarterback for Washington, but it’s fair to ask, has the team done enough at other positions, particularly on defense?
