Shemar Turner is entering his sophomore season, looking to earn a starting position on the defensive line after spending his freshman season as a rotational backup. Out of the 2021 recruiting class for Aggies, Turner was the highest-rated player in the class, creating instant expectations for the young man as soon as he committed on Dec. 12, 2020. From 2018 to 2020, Turner shined on the field at DeSoto High School in DeSoto, Texas, and was named District 7-6A Co-Defensive Sophomore of the Year during his 2018 sophomore season, and was first-team all-district during his junior season. Turner began his Texas A&M career during the 2021 season appearing in 8 games, notching 14 total tackles, 1.5 sacks, and 2 tackles for loss on the year playing behind recent Pittsburgh Steelers 3rd round pick, DeMarvin Leal. After adding weight during the offseason, Shemar Turner has ample opportunity to keep improving physically going into summer camp.
