Penn State football snapshot profile: DT Coziah Izzard

Going into the 2022 football season, Nittany Lions Wire will be looking at each scholarship player listed on the Penn State roster.

Over the preseason, each profile will cover where the player is from, how recruiting websites rated them coming out of high school, and what role they will play for James Franklin this season.

Penn State could have the middle of its defensive line all figured out. The return of a healthy PJ Mustipher gives the Nittany Lions a veteran presence at defensive tackle, but the pairing of Coziah Izzard gives Penn State two experienced starters in the middle of its line. Izzard started in just over half of Penn State’s games in 2021, and that experience could pave to a big step forward for Izzard and the entire defensive line this fall.

Penn State’s defensive line may have sent off two starters to the NFL, but the entire unit looks to be fairly solid across the line this season from end to end. In the middle, the anchor will be returning veteran PJ Mustipher, who is looking to be fully healthy after suffering a season-ending injury last fall. Coziah Izzard is expected to maintain a starting role on the line after getting a good amount of playing time last season.
