Going into the 2022 football season, Aggies Wire will be looking at each scholarship player listed on the Texas A&M roster.
Over the preseason, each profile will cover where the player is from, how recruiting websites rated them coming out of high school, and what role they will play for Jimbo Fisher this season.
Anthony Lucas is entering his freshman season as a proud member of the heralded 2022 Texas A&M recruiting class, and at only 17 years old, has the body and overall look to become a major contributor in year one. As the top recruit in Arizona, Lucas was a big priority for Jimbo Fisher early in the recruiting process, knowing that he would be losing key defensive linemen in DeMarvin Leal, Micheal Clemons, Tyree Johson, and Jayden Peevy to the NFL Draft at the conclusion of the 2021 season. Before committing to the Aggies, Lucas spent three years playing varsity football at Chaparral High School in Scottsdale, Arizona, playing defensive end, defensive tackle, and tight end for a short time. Spanning from his sophomore to senior season, he recorded 139 total tackles, 22.5 sacks, 1 interception, and 3 forced fumbles, totaling 9.5 sacks during his senior year. During the 2022 Maroon and White spring game on April 9th, Anthony Lucas already began to make a name for himself, making 8 tackles and 2 sacks in the game, becoming a real nuisance for any teammate that had to face him that day.
