Denver Broncos offseason roster: No. 83, Andrew Beck

Broncos Wire’s 90-man offseason roster series continues today with a look at fourth-year fullback/tight end Andrew Beck, No. 83.

Before the Broncos: Beck (6-3, 255 pounds) was a four year player at the University of Texas as a two-way player (linebacker and tight end). Beck caught 39 passes for over 450 yards and four touchdowns for the Longhorns, although he only recorded three total tackles.

Beck went undrafted after the 2019 NFL draft, where he was signed by the New England Patriots. After spending the entire preseason with the Patriots, Beck was signed by the Broncos, where he had an immediate impact.

Broncos tenure: Beck played in all 16 games of the 2019 season, then 10 games in 2020 and 12 games in 2021. During his Denver career, Beck has caught nine passes for 90 yards and one touchdown. Although he has been used sparingly, Beck has been an integral part of the heart of the Broncos. In 2021, Beck received the NFL’s Salute to Service Award for the work he has done with Colorado’s large military community.

Chances to make the 53-man roster: Beck is in a crowded tight end room that just added draftee Greg Dulcich and already had several members from previous seasons. However, new Broncos head coach Nathaniel Hackett name-dropped Beck as the prototypical fullback for an NFL team. If Beck performs as Hackett intends to use him, there is a very good chance we will see No. 83 back out on the field come September.
