USC has done a ton of work in the transfer portal. To be sure, Lincoln Riley has radically remade the 2022 roster by focusing on transfers in this offseason cycle. Yet, for all the work Riley and the Trojans have done, this should not mark the end of their efforts to bring in new players for the coming season.
USC analysts and beat writers whose work is referred to on this site, such as Antonio Morales of The Athletic, have mentioned how thin the secondary is and that growing pains will be a part of the upcoming season for that position group. While the secondary is a point of focus for some, the ultimate area of concern is the defensive line. The Trojans, if their secondary is thin, can compensate for a shaky back line of defense by getting more of a pass rush up front. That means beefing up the defensive line.
This is the position group where USC needs to find another player or two in the portal, if at all possible.
We discussed this with Mark Rogers on his USC YouTube channel at The Voice of College Football.
