The weekend of June 24th is setting up to be the biggest one that we’ve seen at Oregon when it comes to recruits coming to town.
Already, we knew that some of the top prospects in the nation — 5-star RB Richard Young, 5-star OT Kadyn Proctor, 5-star DE Jayden Wayne, 5-star DL David Hicks, 5-star ATH Samuel M’Pemba — were all coming to Eugene, with many, many more 4-stars on the guest list as well. On Sunday night, we also found out that another 5-star player is being added to the list — DE Matayo Uiagalelei.
Uiagalelei is not an unfamiliar name for Oregon fans, since the 5-star DE has been on multiple visits to Eugene over the past year. Ranked by 247Sports as the No. 1 DE and No. 5 player in the 2023 class, landing a player of Matayo’s caliber would be massive for the Ducks, and they seem to be in a great position to do so.
Uiagalelei will take three of his official visits this spring — to Oregon, USC, and Ohio State — and will also take an OV to Alabama during the season.
