TCU Horned Frogs in the USFL: Artayvious Lynn

Something About The Magic City - Birmingham's Football History with Scott Adamson

Beginning this week, we’ll be taking a closer look at the former players from Texas Christian University (TCU) currently playing in the United States Football League (USFL).

Leading things off for the Horned Frogs is 26-year-old Artayvious Lynn, a 6-foot-4, 262-pound tight end who was originally selected by the Philadelphia Stars in the 5th round of the 2022 USFL Draft.

Lynn was released by the Stars on April 30, 2022, and was signed as a free agent by the Pittsburgh Maulers on May 6, 2022 (more on that later).

As a redshirt freshman at TCU in 2017, Lynn saw action in nine games prior to starting three games (and playing in seven) as a sophomore in 2018, totaling four receptions on the season.

In Lynn’s junior year for the Horned Frogs, the tight end played in all 12 games (five starts) and ended the year with 11 receptions for 118 yards. As a senior in 2020, an early-season injury allowed him to play in only six games but Lynn still garnered 88 yards on seven catches with one touchdown.

After getting looked at by multiple NFL teams, and in particular the Dallas Cowboys, Lynn can finally say he’s now found a football home in the USFL — regardless of the road-blocks he’s encountered thus far in the league.
