Ranking their 10 most-important additions this offseason

For a team that insists they’re not rebuilding the Seattle Seahawks sure made a lot of major changes to their roster this offseason. In addition to trading away their franchise QB and releasing their defensive centerpiece, Seattle has brought in a ton of new talent at several key positions.

There’s still a long way to go before this group plays their first real game together, but for now here is how we rank the 10 most-important players who are either joining or re-joining the Seahawks this year.

CB Justin Coleman

The last couple seasons this team’s greatest weakness on the back end has been at the nickel position. To remedy that, Seattle has re-signed former slot corner Justin Coleman, who played this spot better than anybody else during the Pete Carroll era from 2017-2018. Coleman’s new contract is only for one year, but for now he plugs what was a major hole on defense.

TE Noah Fant

In addition to a boatload of draft capital, the Seahawks got three new players as part of the Russell Wilson trade, including 24-year old tight end Noah Fant. An exceptional athlete for his position, Fant consistently flashed explosive potential during his time in Denver. He could be a major part of Seattle’s passing game in 2022, especially if Drew Lock winds up starting more games than Geno Smith. Fant’s fifth-year option has been picked up, so he’s under contract for two seasons.

Another quality asset Seattle got from Denver in the deal was defensive tackle Shelby Harris. For several years we’ve believed him to be the league’s most underrated defensive lineman.
