The Texas Southern University (TSU) Tigers added another name to their growing list of former players in the United States Football League (USFL) with the free agent signing of Darvin Kidsy.
Kidsy, 27, was signed by the Houston Gamblers on May 19, 2022, shortly after the league granted roster expansion to all eight teams.
The 6-foot, 180-pound wide receiver began his college career at the University of North Texas (UNT), spending three seasons in Denton, Texas, as a member of the Eagles football team.
As a receiver at UNT from 2013-2015, Kidsy garnered 539 receiving yards on 48 receptions with two touchdowns; he also amassed 428 kick return yards on 18 attempts with one touchdown and 265 punt return yards on 31 attempts with two touchdowns.
After sitting out the 2016 season due to NCAA transfer rules, Kidsy spent 2017 at Texas Southern as a redshirt senior — picking up 519 receiving yards on 38 catches with three touchdowns in his lone season with the Tigers.
Kidsy signed with the Washington Football Team as a free agent on May 14, 2018 — in four preseason games, the wide receiver had 122 receiving yards on 10 receptions with one touchdown; he was cut at the end of training camp before re-signing with Washington’s practice squad on Sept. 2.
He made his NFL debut on Dec. 22 against the Tennessee Titans after being called up two days earlier and garnered his first career catch in Washington’s final game of the season on Dec. 30 — an 8-yard reception from Josh Johnson.
After being waived by Washington on Aug. 31, 2020, Kidsy signed with the Seattle Seahawks’ practice squad on Dec. 2; he was released just six days later before signing a futures contract with Seattle on Jan. 29, 2021 and being waived on Aug. 5.
Kidsy signed with the Saskatchewan Roughriders of the Canadian Football League (CFL) on Jan. 24, 2022; he was released on May 14.
