Denver Broncos offseason roster: No. 69, Tom Compton

Broncos Wire‘s 90-man offseason roster series continues today with a look at Denver Broncos 10th-year offensive lineman Tom Compton, No. 69.

Before the Broncos:  Compton (6-6, 315 pounds) was drafted in the sixth round of the 2012 NFL draft by Washington. He played three seasons with the team. After that, Compton, 33, lived a nomad life. He played on four consecutive one-year deals with the Atlanta Falcons, Chicago Bears, Minnesota Vikings and New York Jets. Compton, a South Dakota alum, joins the Broncos after a two-year stint with the San Fransisco 49ers.

Chances to make the 53-man roster: Compton is in the mix to start at right tackle for the Broncos. A tackle by trade, he can kick inside at guard as well. The position flexibility gives Compton a leg up on the competition at the position and he should reserve a spot on the 53-man roster as a versatile backup at worst. He appeared in 24 games (10 starts) for the 49ers over the past two seasons. In that time frame, Compton committed three penalties and allowed five sacks.
