Over the past decade or so, fans of the Oregon Ducks have gotten used to the idea of a marquee non-conference matchup. It always comes with risk — playing a premiere team early in the year has the chance to knock you off of the tracks and derail your year, but also offers an opportunity for early momentum.
Whether it’s teams like the Oklahoma Sooners, LSU Tigers, Auburn Tigers, Michigan State Spartans, or Ohio State Buckeyes, the Ducks have shown over the years that they won’t shy away from the best of the best when it comes to non-conference games. That goes double for this year’s matchup with the defending champion Georgia Bulldogs on the schedule.
