Logan Howland reacts to Michigan football official visit

Logan Howland didn’t grow up watching much college football, as he focused more on the NFL as far as fandom is concerned. Thus, he’s something of a blank slate when it comes to finding his next school of choice.

The 2023 Princeton (N.J.) Hun School three-star offensive tackle visited Oklahoma last week, and is set to visit Miami and then Iowa in the following weeks, but he got an opportunity to come to Ann Arbor this past weekend. If anything stood out to him, it was the coaching staff — a mixture of offensive coordinator and offensive line coach Sherrone Moore, who he’s been building a strong bond with, as well as Jim Harbaugh, who he finally got a chance to meet when he arrived on campus on Friday.

Howland was particularly surprised at just how amiable Harbaugh was, noting that the conversation wasn’t particularly football-centric.

“We talked for about an hour, just kind of about life. Didn’t really talk about football, I didn’t really need to until the last 10 minutes,” Howland told WolverinesWire. “I didn’t imagine Coach Harbaugh would be that easy to talk to. He’s really kind of chill and relaxed. And you just sit down with him. And you can talk about whatever, didn’t have to be football — can be your family or anything.”

But it wasn’t just Moore and Harbaugh who made an impression on him. His prospective teammates also brought him in with open arms. To him, this was a key part of the visit.

“Connecting with the players there, once again — they’re also easy to connect with,” Howland said. “And they’re fun guys to be around, too. They’re really close, obviously, won Joe Moore, they’re looking to do it again next year. And that kind of just motivates and drives them to be the best offensive lineman in the country.”
