Dreshun Miller transferring to NC State

Dreshun Miller transferring to NC State

On Wednesday, Cory Smith of PackPride reported that former Auburn defensive back Dreshun Miller is set to join North Carolina State’s football program as a walk-on. It will be the fourth and final stop that Miller will make in his college career.

Miller, the Georgia native, originally signed with Eastern Arizona College out of high school. He would go on to spend two seasons with the Gila Monsters. In his two seasons in Thatcher, he recorded 85 tackles, six tackles for loss and two interceptions. After his sophomore season with Eastern Arizona, he received numerous Power 5 offers. Programs like LSU, Texas A&M, Kentucky, and Tennessee all offered Miller. Ultimately, he chose to transfer to West Virginia.

Miller would go on to spend two seasons in Morgantown. In his first season with the Mountaineers, he would receive a redshirt due to a knee injury that sidelined him the entire season. Then, in 2020, he was able to play a key role on the Mountaineers’ defense. He recorded 31 tackles, eight pass breakups, and one interception. However, he did decide to enter the transfer portal after his second season at West Virginia had concluded.

After deciding to transfer, he chose to make the move to Auburn. The coaching staff as well as the fans had high hopes that Miller could contribute immediately to the Tigers’ defense. That did not happen, however. Instead, he played in just one game on the Plains. Following the 2021 season, Miller decided to transfer yet again.

Now, after being in the transfer portal since January, he has found a new home — North Carolina State. This time, though, Miller will be a walk-on. It will be interesting to see how Miller performs in Raleigh and if he can receive a scholarship from the coaching staff in the future.
