Highly-coveted 2023 ATH recruit sets Florida official visit date

The recruiting front is in full gear for Florida football as June continues to roll along, with Billy Napier and his staff pushing as hard as they can to impress the best prep prospects in the nation. A flurry of blue-chip recruits have made their way to Gainesville over the first couple weeks of the month with plenty more to come in the days ahead.

While the four- and five-star prospects are the ones who make the most headlines, three-star athlete recruit RJ Johnson out of McDonough (Georgia) Eagles Landing Christian Academy also made some waves recently when he set his official visit date with the Gators from June 24-26, according to Swamp247.

The 6-foot-2-inch, 165-pounder has already made three unofficial visits with his most recent coming last Wednesday, from which he came away quite impressed after attending Florida’s one-day camp.

“I’m really happy I came down here and decided to do the camp,” Johnson told Gators Online. “Coach Toney and coach Raymond got in some great work today. They showed me some maintenance things I need to do to become a better DB. I got to work through some of their drills, see how they coach, and just getting the chance to be around them and getting a great feel for their vibe.”

Viewed as a prospect with a remarkable physical makeup and athleticism, he is capable of playing at all positions in the secondary but projects to land at cornerback with the Orange and Blue. His connection with Florida’s coaches is what compelled him to schedule an official visit.

Johnson is currently ranked No. 693 overall and No. 62 nationally at the athlete position according to the 247Sports composite, while the On3 consensus him at No. 816 overall and 77 nationally at corner back. Florida is currently out front in his recruiting with a 44.9% chance of signing him per On3’s Recruiting Prediction Machine with the Rutgers Scarlet Knights in second at 26.4%.
