Good news and bad news about Tre Nixon’s standout minicamp

What to make of WR Tre Nixon’s dominant minicamp performance

If you’ve been keeping an eye on the offseason storylines surrounding the New England Patriots, you have probably seen the name Tre Nixon. The team’s 2021 seventh-round pick, Nixon was Ernie Adams’ hand-picked selection — the last one Adams made before heading into retirement. That brought fanfare to Nixon’s early-career, but he ended up missing the cut as a rookie during training camp. He then spent the season on the team’s practice squad, and didn’t contribute.

That’s what made his emergence in 2022 minicamp a real shocker. The Patriots added DeVante Parker and second-round pick Tyquan Thornton to a group that included Kendrick Bourne, Nelson Agholor and Jakobi Meyers. Nixon was probably the best receiver at minicamp. So let’s explain what we make of his strong performance. In this week’s podcast, we discuss Nixon. In the first segment, we discussed whether the Patriots … will be any good. But at about 16:30 in the pod.
