Going into the 2022 football season, LSU Wire will be looking at each player listed on the Tigers’ roster.

Over the preseason, each profile will cover where the player is from, how recruiting websites rated them coming out of high school, and what role they will play for Brian Kelly this season.

We’re looking at an upperclassman on the offensive line and LSU legacy in Thomas Perry. The Lafayette native enters his fourth year with the team and has appeared in just two games to this point, but he’ll be one of several players looking to take advantage of an offensive line situation that saw a lot of turnover this offseason.

Depth Chart Overview

Both Perry’s father and grandfather played football for the Tigers, and his mother threw discus. It shouldn’t be a surprise that when LSU became the three-star prospect’s third FBS offer — in addition to Louisiana and Texas State — he ultimately chose to head to Baton Rouge.

He’s mostly been a reserve player with the Tigers. He didn’t appear in any games and redshirted his first season in 2019, and he appeared in just two games in 2020 — wins over Florida and Ole Miss.

Perry wasn’t able to build on that role in 2021, and he didn’t appear in any games per LSU’s official website. Even with four offensive line starters departing, he’ll have a tough time finding the field this fall, as well.

He once again sits a bit buried on the depth chart, though he’s a bit closer to the surface than he has been the past two seasons. There are not many fourth-year players on this line, and Perry could be…
