NFL Network fantasy analyst predicts schedule

One year ago, the then-Washington Football Team was coming off an NFC East division with a 7-9 record — but hopes were high as Washington added multiple talented players in the 2021 NFL draft and brought in three impact starters via free agency.

Unfortunately for Washington, quarterback Ryan Fitzpatrick went down in Week 1 and never returned. Free-agent signings, wide receiver Curtis Samuel, barely played, and cornerback William Jackson III struggled to adjust until later in the season. As a whole, Washington’s defense underachieved, particularly the young and talented pass-rushers, and the team finished with a 7-10 record.

After facing one of the more difficult schedules in the NFL in 2021, the Commanders’ slate for 2022 doesn’t appear nearly as daunting. However, as we know, things in June look much different than what we will see in the fall. Some teams expected to struggle will compete for the playoffs. Conversely, some expected to be among the best teams will pick in the top 10 of the following NFL draft.

As for Washington, expectations aren’t too high in 2022. New quarterback Carson Wentz comes with plenty of questions but still offers tantalizing upside. Can Wentz get his career back on track? Or will he be looking for another new team in 2023?

Adam Rank, a fantasy analyst for the NFL Network, recently went through every team’s 2022 schedule, predicting the outcome for every game. We made our predictions last month. Let’s just say Washington Wire and Rank do not see eye to eye on these predictions.

Rank’s prediction for Washington begins around the 6:27 mark and runs for around two minutes.
