There is plenty of news surrounding the Oklahoma Sooners’ pursuit of joining the SEC in the very near future. We want to break away from that at the moment but still keep an SEC vibe to things. It is likely that OU will be playing in their new conference by 2022 if everything falls in line.
In their current conference, the Sooners were among the top offensive teams over the years. Quarterbacks such as Sam Bradford, Baker Mayfield, and Landry Jones put up big numbers under the leadership of head coach Bob Stoops. Mayfield’s final season came in year one of the Lincoln Riley era, leading them to the CFP for the second time in three years.
In this exercise, we look back at the top two passers in Oklahoma Sooners history. How do they stack up with the best in the SEC?
For the sake of this argument, we are only using the numbers from Baker Mayfield’s Oklahoma career. His 2,315 yards at Texas Tech were not added into the equation.
