Outside linebacker Markus Golden led the Arizona Cardinals with 11 sacks last season. He returns in 2022 as the most likely player to lead the team in sacks. Chandler Jones departed in free agency, leaving a huge void in the pass rush.
In 2022, they are counting on a number of players to replicate Jones’ production, even though it probably will not replicate Jones’ impact on the field and to opposing offenses.
Assuming Golden will again lead the team in sacks, the question is who the guy will be to be next.
Who will be the Cardinals’ sack leaders after Golden?
Will it be Dennis Gardeck, who had seven sacks in only 93 defensive snaps in 2020? Will it be Devon Kennard, who is slated to be in the starting lineup?
What about J.J. Watt? He only had one sack last season and hasn’t had more than five last the last three seasons.
Zach Allen had a career-high four sacks last season.
Then there are the Cardinals’ two rookie third-round picks, outside linebackers Cameron Thomas and Myjai Sanders. Could either one emerge as rookies?
