Craig Thompson believes some Pac-12 schools could be interested in MW

Will the Colorado Buffaloes move to the Big 12? Probably, at least according to the latest reports.

So, if the Pac-12 loses a bunch of teams like the report said, then a lot of changes would come down as well. The Mountain West Conference figures to be one of the more puzzling scenarios. Do they adopt the leftover Pac-12 teams that want out? Do smaller programs take the place of San Diego State, Fresno State and Boise State if they leave for the Pac-12?

Up until this point, nobody has any idea. More than that, new reports come out every day of differing opinions.

But, MWC Commissioner Craig Thompson gave some insight on how his conference will be changing and admitted a lot are interested.

If the Big 12 picks up the half dozen Pac-12 schools, perhaps others will leave for the MWC. As Thompson said, there will be interest, and even Group of Five AND FCS programs have kicked the tires.

So, all in all, could Colorado be an option for the MWC if they don’t return to the Big 12? It’s definitely a possibility, especially with the Pac-12 remaining in flux as far as its future is concerned.

This entire landscape shift is a headache and neverending, but there’s one thing we do know: A lot will change.
